When is the Right Time
for Hospice?

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or life-limiting disease, it’s never too early to begin learning about how hospice care can support you throughout your life journey.

A physician may suggest a hospice consultation and evaluation when someone diagnosed with a terminal illness exhibits signs and symptoms associated with a life expectancy of six months or less. However, depending on the hospice diagnosis and other factors, many patients live beyond the six-month life expectancy.

Some illnesses supported by hospice care include, but are not limited to:

  • Alzheimer’s & Dementia

  • Cancer

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)

  • End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD)

  • Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS)

  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

  • Parkinson’s Disease
